Where Angels not Mom’s Fear to Tread

Our Mom's are intimately part of our lives--from birth, as we grow up, eventually separating to  live our own lives. But sometimes things happen. Illness strikes us. Things go wrong. She had seven children, including Eddie. Doctors thought he would never live past four but, at age 42, his Mom has taken care of … [Read more...]

Reality In a Land of Dreams and Nightmares

I awakened the other morning while  still in REM dream sleep. Although I don't recall if my eyes opened into reality from a dream or nightmare (it could have been a mix of both), I was uncomfortable with the experience. You've probably experienced a similar occurrence as your alarm clock went off. You're in a state of disorientation for several seconds before realizing you're "awake"--no longer sleeping in a land of dreams and nightmares. When becoming conscious in the middle of a dream, … [Read more...]

Insurance and the Risks of Life in an Uncertain Universe

Insurance Saves Us the Risks of Life

Have you ever thought about why we buy insurance to handle risk in our lives? After  purchasing auto, home, health and life insurance, you'll probably get a sales pitch from an appliance store sales person to insure your washer, dryer and fridge. Walk into an electronics store, like Best Buy, and out you walk with a new laptop computer insured against any failure for three years. Many credit cards come with "free 90 day theft and loss protection" in case someone steals your laptop or you … [Read more...]

Cannabis Clubs for People with Pain Hit San Jose

People suffering with painful illnesses keep getting hit up by city law enforcement. They're at least 20 states across the nation where cannabis clubs that secure pot for medicinal purposes flourish. And San Jose is one of them. Per this morning's Mercury News, patients used to have to trek up to San Francisco to get pot and relieve their symptoms. Now they're sprouting up in the heart of Silicon Valley. The issue became hot in the past year or so when President Obama spoke kindly of such … [Read more...]

Dictionaries for Kids at Hayward’s Park Elementary School

How many of you remember dictionaries when you were a kid? Great White Sharks Return to Golden Gate Bridge

Great White Sharks Return to Bay Area Californian's are a strange lot, no doubt, but neither earthquakes nor floods nor swine flu nor collapsing bridges bring us to our knees. Contracting Universes and the Law of Abundance

Before I begin, let me flatly state I'm not a physicist, an economist nor a guru on the lecture circuit telling people how to get wealthy. Neither am I a religious zealot, a Republican or Democrat. That should allay any concerns that I have an agenda to push or answers to ultimate questions of the … [Read More...]
